I know it’s recession time and your still going to have your wedding, I think that’s wonderful!!! You have saved your pennies, dollars and bills and nothing will stop you from walking down the aisle with your sweetness. But for those who would like to cut back and leave a little in the piggy bank. Here are some guidelines when it comes to saving.
- Create a budget and stick to it.
- Have a budget meeting at the end of each month to make sure that you are on point.
- Open a separate bank account to pay for your wedding and only use those funds. This way you have all your transactions in one place.
- Have your wedding between the months of November to April. This is the off season and you can negotiate for greater deals.
- Choose a Sunday to Friday date, you can save thousands on venue rental.
- If you have not seen or spoken to someone in a few years you don’t have to invite them to your wedding. Only choose close family and friends. This will save you big bucks.
- Always have a deadline for RSVP and stick to it.
- Skip the open bar and purchase your own beverage. This does not have to be alcoholic quenchers. Purchase sparkling drinks or water or have Grandma mix her favourite punch.
- To save on food contact your local culinary college and have them cater and service your event. But ensure that you choose a venue that allows outside caterers.
Happy Planning
